Privacy policy
What personal data Apteka Sharm collects through our website, WhatsApp, phone and email, why we use it, which cookies we use and what your rights are.
This privacy policy explains what personal data Apteka Sharm collects when you visit sharmapteka.com or contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email. It also explains why we use it, who we share it with and what rights you have. We have no online shop and no user accounts, so we collect as little as we can.

Who we are
Apteka Sharm runs 5 pharmacies in Sharm El Sheikh, South Sinai, Egypt. We decide how and why your personal data is used, so we are the “data controller”.
You can reach us by email at contact@sharmapteka.com or on WhatsApp at +20 120 344 2201. Other ways to reach us are on our contact page.
What we collect
When you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email, we receive:
- your name and your phone number or email address;
- your messages and any photos you send, such as a medicine box or a prescription;
- your hotel name and room number, if you order free hotel delivery or a transfer;
- health details you choose to share, such as symptoms, allergies, age or the medicines you take.
When you visit our website and accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity record the pages you view, how you found us, your clicks, scrolls and mouse movements, your device and browser, and your approximate location. Clarity masks text typed into input boxes and does not send it to Microsoft.
Our website host also keeps basic technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the website secure.
Health information
Health details are sensitive data. We use them only with your explicit consent, and only to advise you and to prepare the right product. If you prefer not to share health details in writing, you can call us or visit one of our pharmacies.
Why we use your data
| What we do | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Answer your questions and give pharmacy advice | Your consent (explicit consent for health details) |
| Prepare your order, delivery or transfer | Steps you ask us to take, and the sale itself (contract) |
| Check prescriptions and keep records the law requires | Legal obligation |
| Measure visits to our website | Your consent to analytics cookies |
| Keep the website secure | Our legitimate interest in a safe website |
| Send you offers on WhatsApp | Your consent |
These legal bases are among those listed in Article 6 of Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 (PDPL). If you visit from the EU or UK, the GDPR or UK GDPR may also apply.
You can stop WhatsApp offers at any time by telling us.
Cookies and website analytics
We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics 4, and we use Microsoft Clarity. These tools use cookies to count visits and to see how our pages are used. We set them only if you accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. A small cookie remembers your choice. To change it, use the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells visitors apart (expires after 2 years) |
| _ga_ plus an ID | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your visit (expires after 2 years) |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity | Stores a pseudonymous Clarity user ID |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Links the pages of one visit into one session recording |
| CLID, MUID, MR, SM, ANONCHK | Microsoft | Third-party identifiers used by Clarity |
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers: Hostinger, which hosts our website and email; Google, for Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager; and Microsoft, for Clarity.
- WhatsApp, a Meta company, which carries your messages. WhatsApp offers end-to-end encryption, and its own privacy policy applies. Our staff who help you can read your messages.
- The person who delivers your order, who receives your name, hotel and room number.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Our website links to our Instagram, TikTok and Facebook pages. When you follow these links, the privacy policy of that platform applies.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside Egypt, the EU and the UK. For example, WhatsApp uses Meta’s data centres, including in the United States, and Clarity stores data in Microsoft’s Azure cloud. We transfer data abroad only as the PDPL and, where they apply, the GDPR and UK GDPR allow. Under the PDPL, this can require your consent and a permit from Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Center.
How long we keep your data
- WhatsApp chats, emails and photos: only as long as we need them to help you and to handle any follow-up.
- Prescription records: for as long as Egyptian pharmacy rules require.
- Google Analytics data: up to 14 months, then it is deleted automatically.
- Clarity recordings: 30 days. Recordings we mark as favourites, and a random sample, can be kept for up to 9 months.
Children
Our website is meant for adults. Parents often contact us about medicines for their children. Under Egyptian law, children’s data is sensitive data, and for a child under 15 we need the consent of a parent or guardian. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us with you.
Your rights
Under the PDPL, you can access your personal data, ask us to correct or update it, object to certain uses and withdraw your consent. If a data breach affects you, we must tell you.
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you also have the rights to be informed, to access, correct or erase your data, to restrict its use, to data portability and to object. You also have rights about decisions made only by computers.
To use your rights, email contact@sharmapteka.com. We will answer without undue delay. You can also complain to Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Center, to your national data protection authority in the EU, or to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data. No way of sending or storing data is completely secure, so please send us only the information we need.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. Please also read our terms of use.
For any question about your personal data, email contact@sharmapteka.com or message us on WhatsApp at +20 120 344 2201.
